Top 10 Hot Gadgets of 2013

The gadgets listed below are based on rankings made by tech magazine T3. According to Luke Peters, the magazine’s editor, these devices are powerful enough to become the next big thing in information technology this year. Without further adieu, here now are the top 10 gadgets for this year.

10.  NVIDIA Project Shield

Now playing high quality games even while you’re on the go can be easy with NVIDIA Project Shield. It is a portable gaming device that can be connected to your PC via Wi-Fi. Although it is still in its developmental stage, it will be available in the US and Canada in the second half of 2013. Eventually, it will be shipped to other countries after the launch.

9.  Cambridge Audio Minx Air

Whether it’s from a smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can wirelessly listen to your favorite music using the Cambridge Audio Minx Air. The device can also play the radio and works for both the Apple and the Android.

8. Pebble

Featuring different downloadable and customizable faces, Pebble has been dubbed as the “first watch for the 21st century.” Using Bluetooth technology, you can connect it to iPhone and Android smartphones. It silently vibrates to alert you of any incoming calls, emails, or messages. Download and install some apps and Pebble is converted into a stopwatch, GPS, MP3 player, and computer. For $150, you can pre-order online so you can get your watch when it becomes available.

7. Fujifilm X100S 

The Fujifilm X100S is a traditional and digital camera in one. Packed with 16.3 megapixel X-Trans CMOS sensor and on-chip phase detection, it delivers an improved autofocus speed than its predecessors. With its EXR Processor II, it features a new Lens Modulation Optimizer function. Available online for £1,099, the Fujifilm X100S is the camera for the serious photographer.

6. Paper Tab

Paper Tab is an innovation that combines the flexibility of paper with the endurance of digital. Although it only allows opening of one file at a time, it has several papers that allows you to perform other functions such as share PDFs, fast forward a video and open e-mails. The device is still being developed though and there is still no word as to the release date or cost.

5. Sony 4K OLED TV 

With its native 3,840 x 2,160 OLED panel, it will be the first Ultra High Definition television in the world. At 56-inches, the Sony 4K OLED TV delivers outstanding and high-quality image and is projected to change our watching television habits.

4.  Google Glass

Technology at its best is what Google Glass will bring. While wearing it, the glasses are capable of taking pictures, recording video, sending messages, finding directions, or speech translation. They can be connected to the Internet to allow you to avail of Google’s services creating a hands-free experience. It is still being tested by so-called “Glass Explorers” but Google Glass will be released to the public very soon.

3. Sony PlayStation 4

The latest update to Sony’s highly-popular gaming console, Sony Corporation brings new enhancements to PlayStation 4. The controller now uses touchscreen technology. The share function allows editing, recording, and uploading of gaming footage to online friends.  Expected launch of the Sony PlayStation 4 is December 2013.

2. Samsung Galaxy S4

Launched earlier this month in New York, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to beat the Apple iPhone 5. One of the newest innovations to the Galaxy S4 is remote technology. This means users can control the functions without touching the screen. Among the latest innovations that come with the Galaxy S4 are “smart pause,” “smart scroll,” and changing music tracks or accept a call by waving your hand. It was launched globally last April and will be available in various contracts.

3D printers utilize sophisticated mapping technology by placing layers of thin plastic slices or other materials together creating a three dimensional object. It is already gaining ground and is already being used in various industries such as in the clothing, engineering, and medical sector.
