Power, it is something desired by everyone but resides with only those who use it wisely and for mass-welfare. Power comes to person when he does something remarkable and something the history will never forget. It comes and brings money, respect, reputation, status, appreciation, and mass-liking. There are many politicians, entrepreneurs and other people in various categories who are very powerful, but those who lay above these many such examples are a few. Some of the most powerful people in the world on today’s date are mentioned below.

[10] David Cameron – Prime Minister – United Kingdom

David William Donald Cameron was born on 9th October 1966 in U.K. His education includes a first class honours degree at Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) after which he became a part of the Conservative Research Dept. as a Special Adviser of Norman Lamont and also Michael Howard later. For next seven years, he was the Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton Communications. He is the youngest British Prime Minister but also the ‘First Lord of the Treasury’, Leader of the Conservative Party, Member of Parliament for Witney and ‘Minster for Civil Services’. Glimpses of his life: – * 1997: lost the candidacy for Parliament. *2001: became MP for Oxfordshire consistency of Witney. *2005: Head of Policy Coordination and won the Conservative Leadership Elections. * 11 May, 2010: formed a coalition between the Conservatives & Liberal Democrats after Conservatives won 307 in the Parliament and lead this coalition since World War II.

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born in New York on 14th May 1984. He is at the post of a Chairman and Chief executive of Facebook and most popular among its 5 co-founders. When he was in middle school, software programs became his hobby and starting with BASIC he moved towards other languages learning from his father. He has major in Computer Science and Psychology from Harvard University. In college, he made a program called Facemash which allowed students to like and vote for the attractive photos of fellow-students. The program was closed but that inspired to build Facebook. At 23, he was a billionaire and by 2010, the popularity spread worldwide with over 500 million users.

Born on 13th December 1953, Ben Bernanke is the present chairman at the Federal Reserve which is a Central Bank of US plus he is an American Economist. Earlier he was Professor at the famous Princeton University. From 1996 to 2002, he was the chairman of the Department of Economics there. After leaving from there, he joined the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Later he became the Chairman of Council of Economic Advisers for President George W. Bush and he was appointed by the president himself as the Chairman of United States Federal Reserve on 1st February, 2006. Later on 28th January 2010, he was re-nominated as the chairman by President Obama.

Born on 16th April 1927, Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger is the present 265th Pope. He is the Sovereign of Vatican City as well as the leads the Catholic Church. He is the successor of the great Saint Peter Apostle. In Papal conclave, on 19th April, 2005, he was elected as the pope and on 7th May 2005, he took his position of the Cathedral – Archbasilica of St. John Latern. He is a citizen for both Germany and Vatican City. Before a Pope, he served as a Priest in 1951 and from 1958, at many German Universities he was a professor of Theology including University of Regensburg. Later, he also served as Archbishop at Munich and Friesing. After that, he found a home in Rome.

[6] Abdullah bin Abdulziz al Saud – King – Saudi Arabic

He was born 1st August 1924, became the king of Saudi Arabia on 1st August 2005 after the King Fahd died. His father Ibn Saud was the founder of modern country of Saudi Arabia and had 16 wives out of which Fahda bint Asi Al Shuraim was his mother. In 1962, before which he was mayor of Mecca, he became the commander of Saudi Arabian National Guard. He was also a deputy Defense Minister. Later when King Fahd got a serious stroke in the year 1995, he was the de facto ruler of the country and after 10 years he ascended the throne and the 6th king. He married 4 women and had 7 sons plus 15 daughters. He is the 3rd richest royal in the world with a fortune of US$18 billion.

William Henry Bill Gates III was born in America on 28th October 1955. He is currently the chairman of Microsoft which was co-founded with Paul Allen. He was the former chief executive of the same leading PC software company. He is popular as the business magnate of the world. Last year in 2011, he was announced as the 2nd wealthiest person in the world and wealthiest person in America. He is the largest shareholder having 6.4% share individually. In January 2000, he stepped as the CEO of Microsoft and became chairman and Chief Software Architect. After transferring his duties to others, he now is a non-executive chairman.

[4] Angela Merkel – Chancellor of Germany – Germany

Merkel, first woman who became a Chancellor of Germany, was born on 17th July 1954. She is also the party leader of CDU which is Christian Democratic Union. Initially, she was a physical chemist but turned towards politics during the time of Revolutions of 1989. After representing some governments at different places, she became the Federal Minister for Women and Youth in the year 1991; then as Federal Minister for Environment Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in the year 1994. In 1998, she became the Secretary General of CDU and in 2000, she was a chairperson. In 2007, she became the president of European Council. She is the 4th most powerful person; no other woman ever reached this position on an international study.

[3] Hu Jintao – Leader of People’s Republic of China – China

In the year 1942, on 21st December, Hu Jinatao was born in China. Currently he is the paramount leader of China’s People’s Republic.  Glimpses of his life: – *2002: he was titled as the General Secretary of Communist Party, China; *2003: he became the President of People’s Republic, China; *2004: Chairman of Central Military Commission and also the chief of 4th generation of leadership of their Communist Party. Even before he was an adult, he served as the Party Secretary for two regions, Guizhou province as well as the Tibet Autonomous Region. Then he served as the First Leader for the Party Central Secretariat and also the Vice President under Jaing Zemin. Today, he has a record of longest serving leader for any of the G20 nations till date.

Born in Russia on 7th October 1952, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin played many roles in the political aspects of Russia. Earlier, he was a Lieutenant Colonel and when he got retired, he joined politics. He did a lot of great work to develop United Russia economically. All these efforts, which he did put to help the country grow, are responsible for the second position in the International Powerful Leaders.

Barack Hussein Obama was born on 4th August 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the first African American to become the President of the United States. He is the 44th President and is highly educated. His education includes graduation from Harvard Law School and Columbia University. Before becoming the President, he was a many things. Initially, in 1992-2004, he used to teach Constitutional Law for the students at University of Chicago. During the years 1997-2004, he represented 13th district in Illinois. In 2008, he won the elections for presidential role which was a result of the campaign held in February 2007. Being a President, he did a lot for the development of his people including the policy to legalize same-sex marriage. No doubt he is the most powerful person in the world.
