Top 10 Reasons to Recycle the Waste,Help the Nature & its Inhabitats

The new idea of the three R’s is spreading across the length and breadth of the world. The three R’s stand for Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Amongst these three Recycling is very important and gaining attention worldwide since the raw material are only finite. Recycling provides a considerable amount of time to the Earth to replenish its resources.  Recycling means the processing of the waste product so that they can be used again.  Recycling not only saves the present resources but also creates new resources for the future generation.  Recycling today  is the need of the hour. If we don’t start recycling the resources, soon will time when there will be no resources left with the Mother Nature, Earth. Following are the top ten reasons behind Recycling.

10. Easy to use

One important aspect behind recycling is that it is very easy. The recycling processes do not need much of the technology. They are simple and easy to use. It just requires a different edge of thinking. With the least amount of labor put in recycling produces high output.

9. Reduces waste

The studies have revealed that on an average, each of us produces 4.4 lbs of solid waste each day. This adds up to almost a ton of trash per person per year. Also a typical family consumes 182 gal of soda, 29 gal of juice, 104 gal of milk &26 gal of bottled water in a year .This all accounts for a lot of waste, amongst which almost all of it is recyclable. Thus steps need to be taken to make sure that these wastes are recycled for sure. In countries where recycling is not a new phenomenon, people have become very vigilant about their wastes. They  think very carefully about what to throw and what to use again.

8. Saves money

Recycling saves a lot of money. Using a Recycled product is cheap in comparison with buying a brand new product.  This is because the cost of extraction and processing is also added when we go for a new product whereas in recycling since we already have raw material the cost comes down. This is an important aspect when we think about the common man.

7. Brings down the level of water pollution

Dumping of wastes in the water bodies has become a very prevalent phenomenon. Many of the factories and industries dump their chemical and other wastes in the water bodies nearby. This not only pollutes the water, but also spreads lethal water borne diseases in individuals who consumes the polluted water. Recycling helps in the processing of the waste which otherwise would have been dumped in the water. Thus, helping in bringing down the level of water pollution. Is it also accorded in recycling of the polluted water, in turn making it safe to use it for day to day chores like washing or as a coolant in the industries.

6. Reduces the need of more landfill sites

With our ever-increasing needs and demands, our greed for resources is also increasing. This in fact brings up the need of more and more landfill sites. But with such a fast rate of extraction of resources, we will soon be running out of places where we can dig new landfills. Since recycling requires low energy and fewer resources, it helps in keeping the wastes from accumulating in the landfill, thus reducing their need. For example 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space are saved by recycling one ton of plastic.

5. Creates new opportunities of the job

Recycling sector also helps with booming employment.  Recycling of resources needs a lot of man power making a widespread urge of new employment opportunities. Thus when the demand for recycling goes up,  it in turn pushes the demand of employees also.  In the U.S. , recycling accounts for $236 billion. Recycling employs 1.1 million workers nationwide.

4. Friendly with natural flora and fauna

The large amount of industrial waste takes toll of animal life with it each year. It also damages the floral species, thus damaging the biodiversity. When we use recycled resources the need to harm forests, rivers and other places important to support wildlife reduces. This in turn helps in protecting the flora and fauna species in the environment.

3. Helps in saving energy

Using energy resources economically has become very essential as they are perishable and an inexorable use of energy will make them last only for a few years to come. Recycling is emerging out as a very efficient way of saving energy. For example each ton of paper recycled saves 17 trees! Also recycled paper requires 64% less energy than making paper from virgin wood pulp. Recycled aluminum cans saves 95% energy which is appreciable. The amount of wood and paper we dispose off each year is enough to heat 50 million homes for 20 years!

2. Reduces the effect of Global warming

Recycling helps in protecting the ozone layer from getting damaged thus bringing down the level of Global warming. This is done by preventing the release of harmful greenhouse gases like carbon and its associates into the air. This helps in lowering the temperature of Earth and thus prevented glaciers from melting.

1. Preserves resources

Since resources cannot be replenished, care must be taken while using them. Recycling saves virgin resources from getting extorted, thus prevented the Earth’s resources from getting depleted. It supplements recycled resources to be used in place of new resources. Thus saving a considerable amount of resources for the future generation.
