Hindi songs resonate in every part of the country. From the age old ever green melodies picturized on stalwarts of the Indian cinema such as Madhubala, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and many others to the more recent songs which have captured the interest of the world, hindi songs have been an integral part of the movie industry. So ingrained are the songs in Indian films that it is impossible to imagine movies without them. It was the 1940s-1950s that bollywood industry actually evolved. This phase was known to be the golden era of Hindi cinema. The viewers of Hindi cinema love the movies for its songs and admire the singers and musicians as much as the actors and actresses. All time hit singers such as Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar are some of the most well known names in India.


There countless number of songs that have been produced by the hindi film industry and thousands of them that have made it to the top list in all these years. This beautiful song was from the movie Wo Kaun Thi and a solo song sung by Lata mangeshkar. This black and white classic suspense movie was directed by Raj Khosla and the music was given by Madan Mohan.

This song was again a solo, sung by lata Mangeshkar, from the film Mahal that was released in 1949. The music of the song was given by Khemchand Prakash and the lyricist was Nakshab Jarachavi.

This song was sung by Asha Bhonsle , renowned name in the Indian cinema. The song is from the movie, Umrao Jaan, released in 1981. The music was given by Khayyam and lyrics by Shahryar, The lead actress Rekha had the country holding its breath when she sang this lovely song on screen.

This song is from the hit movie ‘Guide” which broke records of all times. The movie was based on the critically acclaimed novel, The Guide, written by R.K.Narayan. The song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the movie released in the year 1965. The music was given by the famous musician, S.D. Burman and the lyrics were by Shailendra.
