Wine is an alcoholic beverage which is mostly made from the fruits which are fermented, usually the fruits used are grapes. The natural chemicals of grapes ferment without the addition of sugars and other ingredients. Yeast consumes all of the sugar from the grapes and then converts it to the alcohol. Different types of grapes are used to make different kinds of wine. There are different kinds of wines available like Red wine, Ice Wine, ginger wine and many more. Most of the  wines are named after the fruit from which they are made. Wine is such kind of a drink whose taste is enjoyed by everyone. Here the top 10 most costly wines in the world.

 1. Heidsieck (1907)-$275,000 :

Heidsieck & Co was founded in 1785 in France. It was founded by Florens Louis Heidsieck but today Heidsieck is owned by Vraken company. In July 2010, a group of Swedish divers found 168 bottles in 1830’s aboard in destroyed hips in Baltic Sea. The bottles were sent to France for the testing and then it was announced that these bottles were of Heidsieck. These bottles were then sold in a public auction and each bottle of Heidsieck costed around $275,000.

2. 1869 Chateau Lafite-$230,000:

Chateau Lafite is known for producing a royal drink which are sold as the one of the most expensive drinks in the world. It is an another label of the previously mention Chateau Lafite. This shows the value of wines produced by Chateau as most of its labels are sold for a very costly price. Still there are some labels of Chateau Lafite that are available in market available which are reputed in the market. Royal people drink it occasionally.

3. Chateau Cheval Blanc- $233,972:

Chateau Cheval Blanc was produced in the Bordeaux ( European wines are classified as Bordeaux) wine region of France. This wine received the highest rank for Premier Grand Cru Classe (A) status.  The vineyard 41 hectares with 37 hectares planted with very rare variety of grapes. Every bottle of Chateau Cheval Blanc was sold for $233,972, which brings this wine to our countdown.

 4. Chateau Lafite – $160,000 :

Chateau Lafite Rothschild is a wine estate in France, which is owned by the Rothschild family since 19th century. The wine estate is popular for producing one of the most expensive Red Wines in the world. Malcolm Forbes paid about $160,000 for a bottle of Chateau Lafite but however the wine is no longer drinkable as it was purchased to keep it as collectible item. After looking at selling prices of old wines, I surely believe that ‘old is definitely gold’.

 5. Romanee Conti- $123,900:

Romanee Conti is one of the most expensive and finest wine in the whole world. The taste of the wine includes a pinch of cherry and different taste as compared to the other wines. The wine was made during the World War II and just 600 bottles of wine were created, the wine simply tastes fabulous and can not be compared to other wines. US collector paid about $123,900 for a bottle of Romanee Conti.

 6. Chateau d’Yquem- $117,000:

This wine comes from the region of Sauternes, southern area of Bordeaux which was also known as Graves. It is the most expensive bottle of White wine as it was purchased for $117,000. It is considered as one of the most expensive wine produced in Bordeaux. If a proper care is taken of the bottle then the bottle can stay for century or even more. Mr Christian Vanneque purchased this bottle for $117,000 and he is planning to open this bottle in 2017 when he completes his 50 years of career.

 7. Chateau Yquem -$100,000:

The wine is being produced since 1968. The wine was sold by family of the Comte Alexandre de Lur-Saluces to LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton for about $100,000. Pierre Lurton is currently the Managing director of Chateau. Previous managing director Comte was known for the quality which he used to maintain in wines. The taste of the wine is simply fabulous and one of the finest wines in the world.

 8. Chateau Mouton Rothchild-$47,000:

Chateau Mouton Rothchild is another very expensive wine by Chateau whose every 750 ml bottle was sold for $47,000. It is basically a red wine. Chateau Mouton Rothchild was originally named as Chateau-Brane Mouton but it was renamed by Nathaniel de Rothchild. There are different labels available for the Chateau Mouton Rothchild but we are specifically talking about the label of 1945.

 9. Massandra 1775 -$43,500:

Massandra is the oldest and most expensive wine from the Russian Massendra winery. One bottle of Massendra 1775 was sold at an auction for $43,500 back in 2001 in London. Massendra is also one of the finest wines that tasted the best. Now Massandra 1775 is an ancient wine which is no longer produced. Also the bottle of Massandra 1775 looks very ancient and you can also find the bottles in museums.

10. Royal De Maria-$30,000:

Royal De Maria is a type of an Ice Wine which is produced in the desert. The wine is made by frozing the grapes before fermentation whereas sugars and other ingredients dissolved are not frozen. The production of Ice Wine is quite limited because the production of Ice wine is quite risky. Every bottle of Royal De Maria was sold at $30,000 in 2006. It is the most superior kind of Ice Wine available in the market. Also the bottle of Royal De Maria gives a very Royal look.
